You hear about it constantly on various poker web sites and among your friends. Almost everyone and anyone that plays the game of poker is checking out some kind of heads up display software for their online game. While HUD’s can certainly come in handy, particularly pulling real-time information, they are banned by most of the larger and popular Online Texas Holdem poker rooms. However, there are still a number of poker rooms in the cyber sphere that allow players to use them. Software is a tool just like a hammer or a pair of pliers. You may be able to use that tool to help you get the job done but no one tool will guarantee that you will successfully finish the job. (more…)

The issue of poker bots is an ever present one in online poker. It has basically been around from the very beginnings, and the number of companies and various websites offering poker bots for sale for $20 has only increased ever since. For starters, I think we can rule out these $20 offers, without a second thought. Why would anyone sell something that’s potentially worth hundreds of thousands of dollars for a few bucks? I know these sites feature rather convincing sales copy, but that does little to defeat the above logic. (more…)

Everybody has a ‘tell.’ Even the best of the best poker players have tells. Only, you need a shrewd brain and sharp eyes to spot the not so obvious tell. In real poker, you need to study your fellow players as much as you gauge the strength of your own hand. You’ll absolutely need to watch slight mannerisms and subtle reactions of your opponents, which will reveal to you the strengths of your opponent hands. Whistling, running a hand through the hair, fidgety behavior, eye contact or avoidance of it, perspiration, tapping of fingers, shaking legs, table talk, or even the complete absence of any of these signs could reveal the hand your opponents are holding. There are common tells that apply to everybody, but when you reach the higher levels of poker play, you’ll not find any common tells. However, even the top players have their own tells, and you’ll just have to raise your observation skills to spot the ‘tells’ that give away the hands of the top players. (more…)

If one had but a penny for every complaint and allegation concerning the supposedly rigged nature of online poker, one would probably be an extremely rich man. The problem is though that if you were to get a penny for every such allegation backed by solid evidence, you probably wouldn’t be able to buy a loaf of bread with it. (more…)
