Full Tilt lost its gaming license permanently? Was Full Tilt a ponzi scheme?
There’s a rumor in the wild that Full Tilt Poker has lost its gaming license permanently. Aparently Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) has revoked FTP’s gaming license for good as they also suspect that Full Tilt was a huge ponzi scheme.
According to the source (iGaming Post), they got the news from a reliable person who is working close to AGCC and Full Tilt Poker’s case.
There hasn’t been any confirmation of the rumor yet.
According to the source, AGCC is still negotiating with Full Tilt about the license payments and such.
Looks like Full Tilt hasn’t found any investors to buy their business and if FTP’s gaming license is revoked, they will need to file a bankrupt plan.
At the same time SubjectPoker.com is telling that FTP is negotiating with some French investors and FTP tries to get their EU license up and the site running.
All the possible investors might back up though, as FTP is under suspection that the company was ran like a ponzi scheme and site owners like Howard Lederer and Chris “Jesus” Ferguson would have raised tens of millions of dollars straight from the “player accounts”.

Patrik Antonius’ former assistant is a scammer
Nick Rainey is a known poker player, he placed 106th in the 2010 WSOP Main Event and has been an assistant to pros like Patrik Antonius and Andrew Robl.

Rainey sold some shares to this year’s WSOP Main Event through 2+2 and wrote to Twitter that he dropped out early. When people checked his position, he wasn’t even found in the player list.
After he got caught he promised to pay all the shares back, but now he has moved out of the country without even contacting any of the share buyers. Also his blog and Twitter accounts have been deleted. When people have dug a bit deeper, there has been some other scams. Rainey has scammed some funds which were supposed to go into charity and more misbehaving are grounding in daily basis.
You can follow the happening on 2+2 forums.

Full Tilt’s hearing will be held behind closed doors
AGCC has just released a press statement where they say that the Full Tilt Poker’s “public” hearing on September 19th will be held behind closed doors. Previously they stated that it is an open hearing.

AGCC’s decision has raised lots of resent as most players would like to see where Full Tilt is heading to.
You can read the whole statement here.
Also Full Tilt Poker released a press statement earlier, which you can read here.
Full Tilt’s own statement is basically just telling the same old story: they believe that the company has huge market outside of USA and they still insist that all their players will get their money back.
They also promise to continue to negotiate with the possible investors that they can get their games back online.

Another scammer amongst the PokerStrategy coaches?
In August, there was a suspicion that there were few scammers playing together on 888poker. PokerStrategy coach Darren Woods is believed to be part of this scam ring which lead to huge wins. The scam ring won hundreds of thousands of dollars in the end.

Now the whole case have been brought to daylight on 2+2 forums and many poker pro has signed it.
Woods, who’s player name on 888poker is “Dooshcom” is believed to have played with multiple accounts with his friends at the $500/$1,000 shallow tables (5bb).
The suspected games were played during August this year and the CEO of 888poker, Gareth Edward has now announced that they’re investigating the accounts used in the scam.
According to TheHendonMob, Darren Woods has won almost half a million dollars from live tournaments.
Woods is now the second PokerStrategy coach who has been involved in scam accusations. Joe “Girah” Macedo was caught cheating on Merge Network and was soon sacked from the PokerStrategy team.

Poker-King speculation: Full Tilt will ask even more time
Full Tilt Poker’s hearing is scheduled on 19th this month. At least Poker-King.com doesn’t believe that there’s much happening in that event - They even think that Full Tilt will try to buy more time to get their business sorted.

Poker-King writes that there’s now only a week to the public hearing and still nothing points to a direction where Full Tilt would have a new deal inked out.
“My guess is that Full Tilt’s lawyers will say that the company is still engaged in negotiations and needs more time to close a deal. I also guess that this request will be granted by the AGCC. Full Tilt’s license would remain suspended under this scenario.”
“Another possibility (though less likely, IMO) for the September 19th hearing would be the AGCC deciding to revoke Full Tilt Poker’s license. I would be surprised if this took place on September 19th, but it is a possibility.”
Well, only time will tell and in a week we will be much wiser.

PokerStars got one of their frozex bank account back: “Use $5,5 million at most”
US Department of Justice (DoJ) has just released one of the frozen PokerStars bank accounts which was seized during the “Poker Black Friday”. Both parties have now settled on an agreement that PokerStars can use 5,5 million dollars from the account.

The re-opened bank account is in a Luxembourg bank called Hapoalim. This account has been connected to Sphene International Limited, which is believed to handle PokerStars’ money transfers.
There’s no information about the full sum in the account, but PokerStars can use $5,5 million from it.
There are two other Sphene International Ltd. bank accounts which DoJ closed and these accounts will remain closed until further notice.

Full Tilt’s public hearing postponed again
Full Tilt Poker has gotten four more days to sort their mess until the public hearing. The new hearing will take place on September 19 at 9am at the Riverbank Park Plaza Hotel in London.

AGCC (Alderney Gambling Control Comission) suspended all Full Tilt’s gaming licences in June, and shortly after that FTP had to close their online gaming service to all players.
It is very interesting to see if FTP has managed to find investors and are they able to continue their online games at all.

Rumor: Entraction going to block Canadian, Israeli, Russian, Norwegian and Turkish players
According to Donkr.com, Entraction Network is going to ban all players from Canada, Israel, Russia, Norway and Turkey.

Donkr.com doesn’t really give us an explanation for the possible ban, so there’s quite much speculation going on around.
At least NoiQPoker’s Support person on 2+2 Forums has confirmed the bans.
It might be that the new owners of Entraction, IGT, are trying to hit the possible opening in the US market and are trying to bypass some law problems with the abovementioned countries if they get a new gambling license.

Full Tilt Poker released new statement
Full Tilt Poker has released new statement. According to the statement, FTP was not prepared for the “Poker Black Friday” at all. They also reveal that they’re negotiating with six potential investors at the moment.

No new contracts have been signed yet, but they’re trying to find the best deal so they can pay back the money they owe to US players.
Here’s the whole statement:
“As is obvious from the events that have transpired since April 15th, Full Tilt Poker was not prepared for the far-reaching, US government enforcement effort of Black Friday.
The events of Black Friday came on the heels of prior government enforcement activities and significant theft. Over the two years preceding Black Friday, the US government seized approximately $115M of player funds located in U.S. banks.
While we believed that offering peer-to-peer online poker did not violate any federal laws – a belief supported by many solid and well-reasoned legal opinions – the DOJ took a different view. In addition, as was widely reported, a key payment processor stole approximately $42M from Full Tilt Poker.
Until April 15th, Full Tilt Poker had always covered these losses so that no player was ever affected. Finally, during late 2010 and early 2011, Full Tilt Poker experienced unprecedented issues with some of its third-party processors that greatly contributed to its financial problems. While the company was on its way to addressing the problems caused by these processors, Full Tilt Poker never anticipated that the DOJ would proceed as it did by seizing our global domain name and shutting down the site worldwide.
Over the last four months, Full Tilt Poker has been actively exploring opportunities with outside investors in order to stabilize the company and pay back our players. At least six of those groups, including hedge funds, operators of other internet businesses and individual investors, have visited Dublin to inspect the operation.
We have recently engaged an additional financial advisor through an investment banking group to assist us in our search for an infusion of cash as well as a new management team to restore the site and repay players. While any deal of this nature is necessarily complex given the current regulatory environment, our players should know that Full Tilt Poker is fully committed to paying them back in full and restoring confidence in our operations.”
Full Tilt Poker’s next official hearing is on September 15 and they’re working hard to find the best investor until then.

Full Tilt lawyer Jeff Ifrah asnwering some questions
One of the Full Tilt Poker lawyers, Jeff Ifrah has began to answer some questions on 2+2 forums. Ifrah is asking for the former FTP players to write down some questions and he is trying to answer them as best as he can.
Ifrah creted an account to 2+2 forums where people can send him questions, but looks like that only few people have actually asked him anything reasonable.
Here are some of the Q&A:
“i_am_fish1″ asks if the players will get their money back.
Jeff Ifrah: Since FTP started the process of speaking with outside investors that has been their entire focus 24/7. They have made crystal clear to every investor that the US players and European players must be paid. I don’t understand what you mean in your last question by “lower”?
“irockhoess” wants to know why FTP has been so silent after the seizure.
Ifrah: “The company was unable to say anything for the past eight week due to a confidentiality agreement. Now it is ready and willing to make up for that silence. The idea of separately timed statements is to make sure the statement is clear and concise instead of overloaded with information. I hope that once the statements are out this will become more evident. I realize it is somewhat cold comfort right now and apologize for that.”
“Mycology” is asking about Ifrah’s motive and has he been authorized to answerd these questions.
Ifrah: “Nobody did. I am answering questions that I do not believe are privileged and passing the others to the company. I take responsibility for not having been able to get the company to issue its statement sooner.”
Looks liek there’s not that much new info on that 2+2 thread, but it can’t be bad if FTP lawyer has stepped up to answer the demand. There are huge load of questions Ifrah can’t answer though.
FTP’s official hearing is being held on September 15.

Sahamies updated his blog after the crushing loss. “Ziigmund” also adds that he hates poker at the moment:

Full Tilt Team Pro manager Chris Porter resigns
Looks like a lot of Full Tilt staff have been released - this time it was Chris Porter, the Full Tilt Team Pro manager who might have got sacked, although he apparently left the sinking ship by himself.

Porter is not the first one who has resigned/sacked from Full Tilt. Former Chief Marketing Officer Lothar Rentschler informed that he is leaving the company last Friday. Rentschler is believed to be Porter’s supervisor in Full Tilt.
It is not known if Porter left willingly or did he got sacked. Porter has been involved in a lot of things: he has been accused of selling some 100% rakeback accounts and also using multiple accounts when he was still working with Full Tilt.
Before his job in Full Tilt, Porter worked for Poker Royalty.

Full Tilt releases new statement
Full Tilt Poker has released new statement to soothe their customers. According to the statement, Full Tilt is still negotiating with the party that is probably going to buy it.
Full Tilt is also regretting that they haven’t been informing their customers in a better way. In the future Full Tilt will try to use more resources to let people know what’s happening.
Here’s the full announcement:
Dublin, Ireland (August 22, 2011) – On August 16, Irish based Pocket Kings Ltd., brand executor for the Full Tilt Poker moniker, concluded the exclusivity period of negotiations with their current potential investor.
While Pocket Kings Ltd. plans to continue discussions with its current investor, the company has now begun negotiations with additional potential investors to conclude the sale/partnership of the Full Tilt Poker brand and its assets.
Full Tilt Poker apologizes for its lack of communication with its customers over the last month and a half, but it has been grappling with unexpected and complex legal and financial issues arising from Black Friday and its aftermath. In addition, the company has had to be circumspect about disclosing the progress of negotiations with potential investors because there is often a requirement of strict confidentiality.
To the extent that it can do so without jeopardizing future opportunities, Full Tilt Poker will strive to have better communication with its customers going forward. Full Tilt Poker’s number one priority remains the same: to secure an infusion of capital to repay all of its worldwide customers.
