Poker After Dark Big Heat Week Debuts Tonight
For those in need of new poker television content, the NBC franchise “Poker After Dark” returns for its first new episodes of 2011 tonight, featuring the biggest tournament in the history of the program.
Dubbed “Big Heat Week,” “Poker After Dark’s” first tournament of 2011 features a six-man sit and go that brings together competitors who have more than proven their worth in the poker world. Combined, the six players – John Juanda, Erick Lindgren, Phil Galfond, Huck Seed, Tom “durrrr” Dwan, and Phil Ivey – have over $42 million in career tournament earnings, 18 World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets, a WSOP Main Event title, and a slew of other major championships.
The $100,000 buy-in event guarantees that the victor of this week’s “Poker After Dark” will walk away with a $600,000 payday.
Galfond is the newcomer to the “Poker After Dark” stage, as all of the other competitors have faced the NBC show’s cameras previously. Galfond, who terrorizes the online poker world under the name “OMGClayAiken,” has built a reputation as one of the top No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha players in the game today. His addition to this week’s lineup is indicative of how the show is embracing the “new blood” of the game.
Safe money on who will win this week’s battle should be on Ivey and Juanda, who are veterans of “Poker After Dark” and have racked up two wins each during the run of the show. While Lindgren and Seed have previously appeared on the program, neither has been able to crack the winner’s circle. For his part, Dwan has been a part of previous “Poker After Dark” cash game episodes, but this is only his second foray into the freezeout arena.
“Big Heat Week” will kick off this evening on NBC late night at 2:05am ET, with host Ali Nejad providing voiceover commentary of the action. The sit and go will continue over the next four nights in the same timeslot and a special “Director’s Cut” will air late night on Saturday at 1:00am ET after NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” This show will feature Leeann Tweeden with a behind-the-scenes look at the week with highlights and insightful player interviews.
Throughout the first half of 2011, “Poker After Dark” will continue to provide new shows mixed in with encore presentations of some of the series’ best episodes. After this week’s new episodes, Dwan will return to the two-week encore presentation of one of the show’s most memorable cash games. The cash game, which featured a $100,000 buy-in, also featured Phil Laak, Gus Hansen, Eli Elezra, and former World Champions Doyle Brunson and Phil Hellmuth.
The week of February 7th, a new cash game will take to the “Poker After Dark” stage with the highest stakes yet. The $150,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em cash game will feature Howard Lederer, Greg Mueller, Elezra, David Peat, Olivier Busquet, and Laak battling it out for supremacy.
April will bring one of the most eagerly anticipated additions to the “Poker After Dark” lineup. During the week of April 4th, a $50,000 buy-in sit and go will take place featuring some of the “young guns” of the game. Andrew “luckychewy” Lichtenberger and UB.com pro Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin will join Melanie Weisner, Annette Obrestad, Brunson, and Dwan, with the winner walking away with $250,000.
During the week of April 11th, Pot Limit Omaha will make its debut on “Poker After Dark” and be featured for two weeks. Joining Ivey, Dwan, and Galfond on the felt for the $100,000 buy-in cash game will be Brandon Adams, Patrik Antonius, Brian Hastings, and Jared Bleznick. The addition of Pot Limit Omaha to “Poker After Dark” should draw a huge audience with the ever-increasing popularity of the game.

Poker After Dark Season 7 Premieres January 3rd
Poker PROductions announced this week that its popular poker television program “Poker After Dark” has concluded the taping of its seventh season. Filmed at the Aria Resort and Casino at CityCenter in Las Vegas, the season premiere will air the week of January 3rd on NBC.
Season 7 will tie for the second longest season in the show’s history, spanning 13 weeks. The fifth season, filmed in 2009, was the longest at 16 weeks, or 96 episodes. The upcoming season will build on the popularity of cash games, all but phasing out the original six-handed sit and go competitions upon which “Poker After Dark” was built.
That said, the first week of the new season will feature a $100,000 buy-in sit and go dubbed “Big Heat.” Competing for the winner-take-all prize pool will be popular high-stakes action seekers Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond, John Juanda, Erick Lindgren, Phil Ivey, and Huck Seed.
The other two sit and gos will feature the traditional $20,000 buy-in and a richer $50,000 buy-in. The $20,000 version will be called “Wish List,” with amateur Mike Dappen taking on Mike Matusow, Phil Hellmuth, Jennifer Harman, Erica Schoenberg, and Chris Ferguson. Dappen won the opportunity to play for the $300,000 first prize by winning the Howard and Suzie Lederer Charity Poker Tournament, which raised money for the Boys and Girls Clubs.
The $50,000 tournament, named “Idol,” will see Doyle Brunson go up against five young pros: Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin, Annette “Annette_15” Obrestad, Andrew “LuckyChewy” Lichtenberger, Melanie “Callisto 5″ Weisner, and Dwan.
The rest of the competitions will be cash games, each of which will span two weeks. Two will have a minimum buy-in of $100,000. The first of these will include Brandon Adams, Matusow, Ferguson, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, Jean-Robert Bellande, Peter Jetten, and Hellmuth. Hellmuth will return for the second $100,000 cash game, along with Antonio Esfandiari, Obrestad, Andy Bloch, Seed, and Justin “Boosted J” Smith.
A $150,000 buy-in cash game will see Eli Elezra, David “Viffer” Peat, Phil Laak, Greg “FBT” Mueller, Olivier Busquet, and Lederer all try to take each other’s money, while Ivey, Dwan, Patrik Antonius, Peat, Elezra, and David Oppenheim will sit down for another cash game with at least $200,000 at stake per person.
While all of the above cash games will be No Limit Hold’em, there will be one $100,000 cash game that will feature Pot Limit Omaha as the game of choice. Sitting down at this table will be Ivey, Galfond, Adams, Antonius, Dwan, Brian Hastings, and Jared “harrington25″ Bleznick.
With 10 of the 13 weeks consisting of cash games, Season 7 will be far and away the most cash game heavy of all of the “Poker After Dark” cycles. It was not until Season 4 in 2008 that cash games were part of the lineup. The show was exclusively six-handed sit and gos for its first three seasons, serving as a complement to GSN’s “High Stakes Poker,” another Poker PROductions program that consisted of only cash games.
In Season 4, which was only seven weeks long, the first and seventh weeks were cash games, while the third was a special four-player “Heads-Up Challenge.” Of the 16 weeks of Season 5, seven were cash games. Six more weeks were cash games in the 13-week Season 6.
Poker PROductions also revealed this week that it has extended its deal with NBC Universal to produce “Poker After Dark” through 2014. Aria will continue to serve as the host casino for the show’s filming through at least 2013.
Poker After Dark season seven begins in January
Devastating Week for Ziigmund
Sahamies only played 957 hands this week in varying stakes of Pot-Limit Omaha but still managed to play several disastrous sessions against opponents like Brian Hastings, Phil Ivey and Dan “jungleman12” Cates.
The recent downswing is becoming the worst on record for the aggressive Finn.
At the start of 2010, Sahamies jumped out to a $2.3 million profit. He is now down $1.8 million on the year and has lost nearly $3 million since the start of October.
Even Sahamies admitted on his Facebook page that he’s on the sickest downswing of his life and will likely take a break from poker.
Sahamies did have some company in the losing department, however, as cadillac1944 lost $368k and Sauce1234 dropped $280k this week.
Even Dan “jungleman12” Cates recorded a rare week loss as he burned through $250k. Despite his loss, Cates remains the biggest winner in 2010 with $4.6 million.
URnotINdanger2 was the week’s biggest winner with $336k added to his online roll. Arbianight also had a good week posting $331k in profit, as did skjervoy, who won $292k.
Gus Hansen continued his strong play as of late by winning $264k. Getting even by the end of the year is looking like a legitimate possibility for the Great Dane who is currently down $1.1 million.
Meanwhile in Macau, the multi-million dollar game that includes Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Chai Giang and John Juanda continues to amaze railbirds around the globe.
According to this thread on twoplustwo poker forum, Dwan is still entrenched in a huge $HK10k/$HK20k match against a Chinese businessman.

Skjervøy Explodes for $367k
The CardRunners instructor recorded 1,417 hands in varying stakes of Pot-Limit Omaha and essentially dominated everyone that was willing to take him on including Arbianight, Brian Hastings and DrugsOrMe.
Skjervøy was particularly effective against Arbianight and won more than $100k in a heads-up battle.
In total Torbergsen won $367k yesterday, which made him easily the biggest winner of the day.
Torbergsen has quietly put together one of the best overall records in 2010. The Norwegian has earned nearly $3 million this year and CardRunners’ decision to sign him as an instructor looks better and better every day.
Some of the other big winners on the evening included luckexpress10 who won $146k, Gus Hansen who took down $140k and Urindanger with $114k.
Hansen continued his relentless drive to get even in 2010 and is now down only $1.7 million after being down $3.6 million in mid-October.
Yesterday wasn’t as kind to davin77 who dropped $212k, Brian Hastings who lost $165k and URnotINdanger2 who went $145k into the red.
Meanwhile the incredible live high stakes action with Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey and Chau Giang, which you can learn more about in this TwoPlusTwo thread, continues to rage in Macau.
The latest rumor is that a wealthy businessman has agreed to play Tom Dwan at $HK10k/$HK20k heads-up No-Limit provided Dwan show his cards after every hand. Apparently Dwan is stuck $HK10 million.

Brian Hastings to Appear on Poker After Dark PLO Cash Game
CardRunners instructor Brian Hastings announced on his blog late last week that he will be making his first televised poker appearance on NBC’s “Poker After Dark.” Hastings said that he will join fellow Full Tilt Red Pros Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan as well as high-stakes regular Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond in a $300/$600 Pot Limit Omaha game with a minimum buy-in of $100,000. Hastings wrote the blog while en route to Las Vegas for the taping of the show.
“The reason I am flying to Vegas is that I am going to be on ‘Poker After Dark,’” an elated Hastings wrote. “This will be my first televised poker appearance and I am very excited. Lana (CardRunners Marketing Director) worked very hard to get me on the show and called me Friday afternoon to let me know about it. It totally caught me off-guard, especially since I have a big assignment due Tuesday for my architecture class, but I quickly decided that I was in, got an extension on the assignment, and now here I am flying cross-country.”
Patrik Antonius, Sam Farha, Brandon Adams, and Jared “harrington25″ Bleznick could also be playing in the game according to Hastings, making for what should be an exciting week of televised poker. Hastings, just 22, hasn’t yet made a name for himself on the live circuit, but the Cornell University student is renowned for winning the most money in a single day in online poker history. In December of last year, Hastings stepped up to the plate to face Swedish phenom “Isildur1” at the $500/$1,000 Pot Limit Omaha heads-up tables on Full Tilt Poker. Five hours later, Hastings had taken around $4 million from the Swede and gained instant fame within the poker community.
Now, Hastings gets his shot at another big game, this time a six-max format under the bright lights of “Poker After Dark.” “We will be taping tomorrow (Monday) and although unfortunately I will not be able to disclose results before the show airs, I will fill you in with the details that I can provide when I know them,” Hastings said. “I do know that the episodes will air sometime in 2011, although I’m not sure when yet.”
This will mark the first set of episodes in the history of the show that offer a game other than No Limit Hold’em. Pot Limit Omaha has increased in popularity online in recent years, much of that due to the intense action at the nosebleed stakes among players like Hastings, Dwan, Galfond, Bleznick, Daniel “jungleman12” Cates, and the rest of the high-limit players on Full Tilt Poker. All of the aforementioned pros are among the biggest Pot Limit Omaha winners on the site since the results started being tracked by HighStakesDB.
Season 7 of “Poker After Dark” is being filmed at Aria after spending the first six seasons at the South Point Casino and the Golden Nugget. Season 6 began airing in January and featured poker pros like Howard Lederer, Phil Hellmuth, Mike Matusow, Annette Obrestad, Antonio Esfandiari, Annie Duke, Eli Elezra, Erick Lindgren, Antonius, David “Viffer” Peat, Chris Ferguson, Jennifer Harman, and Dwan. The show airs nightly at 2:05am ET.
Ziigmund Battered for $490k
In his defense, Sahamies feared no one as he played over 1,000 hands against sharks such as Phil Ivey, Dan “jungleman12” Cates and Brian Hastings.
Unfortunately for Sahamies, every aforementioned player was able to rake a huge sum from the Finn.
Ivey and Hastings were both victorious at the $200/$400 Six-Max PLO tables where Ziigmund lost $190k.
Sahamies found no relief in heads-up play either, as Cates absolutely smashed him for over $270k.
After the session finally concluded, Sahamies found himself down $1.2 million in 2010. It’s the first time this year Ziigmund been down more than $1 million and he’s going to need a huge comeback if he wants to get even before the year concludes.
It was a very different story for jungleman12 who finished his session up a total of $384k.
Cates is starting to pull away as the biggest winner of 2010 with $4.6 million. Tom Dwan is second with $3.9 million and Phil Ivey is third with $3.2 million.
Speaking of Ivey, the Team Full Tilt Pro finally made an appearance at the high stakes online tables after a brief hiatus.
He didn’t show any signs of rust as he destroyed his competition and raked $174k in a scant 48 hands.
Other big winners included Brian Hastings with $214k in profit, harrington25 with $95k and Gus Hansen with $83k.
Joining Sahamies in the losing column were DrugsOrMe (-$229k), DIN_FRU (-$74k) and Niki Jedlicka (-$64k).

Ilari Sahamies just can’t win a single pot - Lost almost $500k
Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies continued his session on Full Tilt Poker last night - and he is still losing. When the session was over, Ziigmund had lost almost $500k and his total losses for the year are now over 1,25 million dollars.

Is Ziigmund’s downswing going end at all?
Sahamies started his session with some $200/$400 PLO heads up against Daniel “jungleman12″ Cates and it looked like Ziigmund was already on tilt:
Ziigmund: this is not true
Ziigmund: gg
Ziigmund: jusrt fcking cant win a pot
Ziigmund: 0 pot
Ziigmund: today
Ziigmund: its fcking assume
jungleman12: yeah its not true
Ziigmund: always fckinf hg same
jungleman12: ![]()
jungleman12: ive run really hot today
A bit later on Ziigmund joined a 6-handed $200/$400 PLO table where Brian Hastings and Phil Ivey took their share of Ilari’s bankroll. Hastings won $215k and Ivey around $174k.
Ivey vs Sahamies, the biggest pot of the night ($199k). They went all-in on the turn:

Daniel Cates is up “quite” nicely this year. He has won around 4,6 million dollars so far and still keeps winning.

Brian Hastings plays in Poker After Dark on next season
Brian Hastings is a familiar name in nosebleed games. He crushed “Isildur1″ and has been making steady wins throughout the years he has been playing on Full Tilt. Now he updated his blog where he speaks about filming Poker After Dark. It’s his first TV performance and he seems to be really excited.

Hastings reveals that the PAD game will be $300/$600 Pot-Limit Omaha with antes and minimum buy-in will be $100k. Other players on the table will be Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond. And it looks like that Patrik Antonius, Sammy Farha and Brandon Adams will be visiting the table as well.
It is the first time that we’ll see Omaha cash game played on PAD. New episodes will be aired “at some time next year”, and we’re really eager to see them.

Huge $609k Week for Hansen
Hansen, perhaps looking to finally get even this year, played 3,852 hands on Full Tilt Poker during the week in everything from H.O.R.S.E. to Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo.
For a change Hansen victimized players like Di “Urindanger” Dang, Brian Hastings and rumprammer. Hansen won over $200k from Dang in a mid-week session.
As of Friday Hansen had generated $609k from the online tables on Full Tilt.
It’s a marked difference from the previous week when Hansen went on a stunning $1.5 million downswing.
The Great Dane still finds himself down $3 million in 2010 and will need several more $600k weeks if he hopes to get even before the year ends.
Meanwhile Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies had an awful week losing $854k in sessions against Urindanger, ASHMAN103 and several other players.
Ziigmund has been on a serious downswing in October and at one point this week he lost for three consecutive nights.
After being up more than $2 million at certain points this year, Ziigmund is now down $488k in 2010. He’s lost over $1.6 million in October alone.
Some of the other big movers and shakers this week included Urindanger, who despite his losses against Hansen, pulled in $481k. Luukie21 added $298k to his bankroll while luckexpress10 raked $161k. Ashton “ASHMAN103” Griffin also made a notable return to the tables with a $214k victory.
No one came close to dropping as much as Ziigmund but DrugsOrMe (-$218k), Jani Vilmunen (-$189k), UarePileous (-$165k) and rumprammer (-$156k) were all big losers.

Ziigmund Battered for $310k
For the third straight night Ziigmund was active in the high stakes games on Full Tilt poker and for the third straight night he lost six-figures.
Ziigmund put in some serious time at the tables playing 1,071 hands of $200/$400 and $500/$1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha.
He played both Urindanger and harrington25 at heads-up $500/$1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha. He lost $74k to Urindanger and $62k to harrington25.
Sahamies would then go on to play an assortment of Six-Max $200/$400 PLO games against the likes of Brian Hastings, Luukie21, URnotINdanger2, rumprammer and Arbianight.
The Finn was not successful in those games either and ended up dropping another $164k.
In total Ziigmund lost $310k and is now, by far, the biggest loser of October with a whopping $1.6 million in the red.
Considering Ziigmund was up $1.1 million before October began, he may want to just take the rest of the month off from the online tables.
Big winners last night included Urindanger (+$200k), jungleman12 (+$103k), Arbianight (+$54k) and David Oppenheim ($53k).
Meanwhile rumprammer (-$98k), Van Marcus (-$87k), THEDONKEYNO1 (-$54k), bixiu (-$38) were amongst the biggest losers.

Durrrr, Jungleman12 Biggest Winners on Full Tilt in 2010
HighStakesDB.com released its biggest winners and losers report for 2010 late last week, and the online tracking site revealed that Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Daniel “jungleman12” Cates are the biggest earners at Full Tilt Poker‘s nosebleed cash games. The two rising stars, who are currently facing off against one another in the second edition of the Durrrr Challenge, are both up more than $4 million this year.
As of October 10, Dwan was the biggest winner on Full Tilt Poker, racking up $4,028,872 in winnings, while Cates was close behind with $4,001,593. Cates has taken a good chunk from Dwan during their challenge, as the 20-year-old CardRunners instructor leads Dwan by $657,774 after 7,660 hands. Should Cates still be on top after 50,000 hands, Dwan would owe him $1.5 million on top of the winnings Cates had accumulated. If Dwan comes back and wins the challenge, Cates will have to pony up $500,000.
The third biggest winner on Full Tilt this year is none other than Phil Ivey, who has accrued more than $3 million in profits despite playing far less volume than most of his adversaries. Ivey is the all-time winningest online poker player since HighStakesDB began tracking in February of 2007, piling up $18,747,970 in earnings over 5,078 sessions. Ivey is also the most profitable player on the live tournament circuit with around $13.6 million in cashes. One can only imagine how much more Ivey has made while playing high-stakes cash games around the world, especially in Bobby’s Room at the Bellagio.
Rounding out the top 10 winners on Full Tilt so far this year are Andreas “skjervoy” Torbergsen ($2.5 million), “LokoIsBack” ($2.44 million), Jared “harrington25″ Bleznick ($2.4 million), Alexander “PostflopAction” Kostritsyn ($1.63 million), David Benefield ($1.36 million), “NEKOTYAN” ($1.24 million), and Ashton “theASHMAN103″ Griffin ($1.23 million).
HighStakesDB reported that former CardRunners instructor and Full Tilt Poker Pro Brian “sbrugby” Townsend is the biggest loser on Full Tilt Poker this year. Townsend, who infamously teamed up with Cole South to help friend Brian Hastings take down “Isildur1” for the largest payday in online poker history late last year, finds himself down nearly $4 million in 2010. Townsend lost $2.53 million while playing under his Red Pro account before stepping down as CardRunners’ lead instructor in June. Since then, Townsend has lost $1.4 million more under the name “sbrugby,” the handle under which he built his massive online bankroll while moving up in stakes.
Gus Hansen comes in as the second largest loser, down $3.67 million through Sunday. According to HighStakesDB, Hansen has lost $10,043,788 since 2007. The “Great Dane” recently won his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in London, but the £228,409 payday doesn’t quite make up for his monstrous online losses.
The other biggest losers on Full Tilt this year include “Matatuk” ($1.54 million), Cole South ($1.45 million), Justin “ZeeJustin” Bonomo ($1.44 million), Rafi “howisitfeellike” Amit (1.31 million), “Esvedra” ($1.3 million), Richard Ashby ($1.29 million), and “PixKim” ($1.2 million).

ASHMAN103 Emerges With $172k Win
Griffin, who famously played in Bobby’s Room when he was still underage, played just 172 hands of $300/$600 Pot-Limit Omaha against Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies but absolutely dominated the wily Finn.
Near the end of the session harrington25 hopped in on the action but was also unable to beat Griffin.
Griffin finally called it quits after approximately three hours of play. The young online poker pro was up $172k when the session concluded.
ASHMAN103 is now up $1.4 million in 2010. Since losing most of his bankroll in the winter of 2009, Griffin has been exceptionally consistent and has won $4.2 million since then.
Meanwhile Ziigmund was the ultimate victim last night losing a total of $200k. Sahamies has been on a serious downswing in October and has lost over $1 million since September ended.
In other high stakes news luckexpress10 chugged his way to a $151k victory last night. Other big winners included Gus Hansen (+$85k), Eli Elezra (+$48k) and Chau “La Key U” Giang (+$44k).
On the other end of the scale were Erik “DIN_FRU” Sagstrom (-$122k), Brian Hastings (-$81k) and NEKOTYAN (-$51k).

Hansen Gets Revenge on Urindanger
Last night Hansen recorded 304 hands of heads-up $500/$1,000 Cap PLO against Urindanger on Full Tilt and for once he was the one with the hammer.
After pummeling Urindanger for several hours Hansen finished with an extra $239k in his online bankroll.
The Great Dane didn’t end his night there, however, as he moved on to playing Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies at $2,000/$4,000 Omaha Hi-Lo. Hansen has said several times that Omaha-8 is likely his best game and it certainly showed against Ziigmund.
Hansen won $120,940 from the aggressive Finn in approximately 200 hands.
After a few more smaller scores had been added to the mix Hansen finished his night up a total of $425k.
Hansen is still the biggest loser of the year with $3.2 million missing from his bankroll in 2010 but if he can keep up the pace of winning $400k a day it would take him only a week to get even.
The tables were actually fairly quiet last night as big guns Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius were all absent but there were a few players who made decent scores.
Scandi Erik “DIN_FRU” Sagstrom raked $83k, grillarock won $50k and Brian Hastings took down $30k.
Ziigmund was the biggest loser of the evening dropping $170k. bixiu (-$140k), Urindanger (-$100k) and Jani Vilmunen (-$68k) also lost sizable amounts of cash.

“Cadillac1944″ came back to Full Tilt Poker’s high stakes tables after a little break. And soon enough the $300/$600 PLO tables were full of action.

This time “cadillac1944″ managed to lose quite much in a short time, almost 300,000 dollars. “DrugsOrMe” won the most ($152k), even though he lost a $545k pot to Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies.

Losses Continue for Isildur1
The aggressive online player, who is rumored to be Swede Victor Blom, has put in a decent amount of volume at $100/$200 No-Limit Hold’em over the past week and the results have been less than ideal.
Last night Isildur1 once again took to the $100/$200 No-Limit tables this time against another unidentified player – KTPOKP.
Isildur1 lost $87,415 in a little over 160 hands. Since re-emerging on the $100/$200 tables last week Isildur1 has lost a total of $402k.
Last year Isildur1 won $4.5 million from Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Phil Ivey before losing it all and more to Brian Hastings, Patrik Antonius and several others in some of the most epic sessions ever played online. Isildur1 is involved with all 10 of the top 10 biggest pots in online poker history.
Isildur1 wasn’t the only player losing stacks of cash last night. Gus Hansen dropped $420k which means he’s lost $3.5 million in 2010. Tom Dwan also lost $316k to O Fortuna PLS playing $2,000/$4,000 Limit Hold’em.
Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies, on the other hand, was a huge winner last night taking down nearly $400k in the $2,000/$4,000 Omaha Hi-Lo games. After a crazy last couple of weeks, the Finn is once again nearly even in 2010.

Dwan, Hansen Dominate Week
In a week where many thought the live cash games in London might be rolling the two Team Full Tilt pros bumped their respective downswings and each made over $700k online.
Hansen had a particularly busy week as he became one of the final two players at the WSOPE £10k Heads-Up tournament and recorded 11,979 hands on Full Tilt.
The Great Dane was finally able to get away from the dangerous Pot-Limit Omaha tables, where he tends to dump buckets of cash, and convince opponents to play him in high stakes H.O.R.S.E. and Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo games.
It was in those games he took significant stacks from Di “Urindanger” Dang, Patrik Antonius, Tom Dwan to finish the week up $758k.
Hansen is still stuck $1.6 million in 2010 but it’s a vast improvement from the $2.4 million he was down a couple weeks ago.
Meanwhile the majority of Dwan’s profit’s came from Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies. The swingy Finn had been extremely hot over the last few weeks but Dwan cooled him right down in a massive $500/$1,000 PLO session.
Dwan managed to take $554k from Ziigmund before the Finn finally quit out of frustration. By the end of the week Dwan was up a total of $724k. That means Dwan is now up $3.9 million in 2010 which tops the leaderboard.
Some of the other movers and shakers this week included DrugsOrMe (+$354k), David Benefield (+$291k) and David Oppenheim (+$292k).
The players on the losing end included Brian “sbrugby” Townsend (-$536k), URnotINdanger2 (-$458k), Ziigmund (-$370k), Brian Hastings (-$342k) and Cole South (-$334k). London bad boy Luke “FullFlush” Schwartz also made a rare appearance losing $116k.

The Online Railbird Report: Sahamies Scores Big Against South and Hastings
High stakes PLO action – durrrr and Ziigmund win
Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies earns $815,000 at PLO
Ziigmund Schools South, Hastings for $759k
In a three-hour span, Sahamies recorded nearly 1,000 hands of heads-up $500/$1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha against the two.
South, likely still stinging from a $700k loss to Ziigmund last week, ended up losing $602k to the swingy Finn.
The loss erases all of his profits this year putting him down over $800k.
Hastings didn’t do much better, although his $187k loss over 600 hands seemed less significant.
It appears Sahamies has recovered nicely from an awful August, earning nearly $1 million in September so far.
Sahamies is up $1.5 million in 2010 and the majority of his profits have come directly from South’s bankroll.
Although Ziigmund stole the spotlight, there were a number of notable pros also active on Full Tilt last night.
Patrik Antonius had a decent $83k day, Chau “La Key U” Giang earned $63k and Phil Ivey took down $52k. Even Gus Hansen recorded a small profit of $36,000.
The day was bad all around for CardRunners instructors as Brian “sbrugby” Townsend lost $208k. Limit specialist deprimiert also continued his downward spiral by losing $53k.

Ziigmund hits back; wins $745,000 from Cole South
Ziigmund, jungleman12 Finish Week on Top
Sahamies was actually down $80,000 before yesterday, when he went on absolutely tear against Cole South, extracting $709k over a few hours in $500/$1,000 PLO.
It was one of the biggest days for Sahamies this year and one of the biggest sessions of 2010.
Meanwhile jungleman12 continues to impress poker fans with his consistent play. This week Cates recorded about 1,000 hands of $100/$200 PLO, $500/$1,000 NLHE and even $25/$50 NLHE to bag $384,980 for the week.
There’s a good chance a few months ago most casual fans hadn’t even heard of jungleman12 but thanks to the durrrr Challenge and overall strong play he’s now one of the most talked about online cash game players.
Cates is currently second in 2010 online earnings with $3.7 million and is looking to overtake Phil Ivey who is first with $3.8 million.
For his part Ivey was one of the biggest winners of the week with $256k profit in just over 500 hands.
Brian Hastings had a swingy week that saw him come out of the weekend $582k ahead but then he proceeded to donate a large portion of it back throughout the week. He finished up $255k.
Cole South was the biggest loser of the week thanks to his disastrous match against Ziigmund yesterday. South ended up down $648,000 over the week.
Next up was Limit specialist deprimiert who recorded huge losses against both Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius in $2,000/$4,000 Limit Hold’em. deprimiert lost $482,017 this week.
The durrrr cold streak also continued this week as Tom Dwan lost $223k. Dwan has been unable to return to his winning ways after hitting a serious roadblock in the durrrr Challenge against jungleman12.

Ziigmund strikes back at Brian Hastings at PLO
Antonius Disassembles deprimiert for $400k
The pair played 605 hands of $2,000/$4,000 Limit Hold’em on Full Tilt Poker and Antonius was essentially unstoppable.
The session marked the second time in barely a week that Antonius has dominated deprimiert. Last week Antonius beat deprimiert for $306k.
Antonius did get some help from the cards, flopping a straight with 3-5 in a $50k pot and then rivering a straight with 6-7 in another huge hand.
After a little over three hours, the pair finally decided to call it a night. By that time Antonius had racked up $391k in winnings.
Despite the victory, Antonius is still up only $74,000 in September thanks to losses accrued earlier this week.
Meanwhile the losses are starting to mount for deprimiert, who is rumored to be a German Limit Hold’em expert. At one point last month deprimiert was up over $200k but he’s already down $259,667 in September alone.
Noted CardRunners instructor Brian Hastings is the biggest winner in the month of September thus far with $458k in profit. The majority of Hastings' winnings have come from Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies.

Brian Townsend – Poker Player Profile
Brian Townsend, who currently resides in Santa Barbara, California, is a professional poker player known for his dominance of Full Tilt Poker’s No Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha short-handed games. He’s been successful enough to earn TV appearances on shows like GSN’s High Stakes Poker and NBC’s Poker After Dark, on which he won $120K by defeating Doyle Brunson heads-up.
Despite his ascent to the top of the poker world, Townsend has been the cause of controversy on two separate occasions. Soon after he became a Full Tilt Poker pro, it was discovered that he had violated the site’s terms of service by playing on two different accounts. He admitted to using the name ‘Stellarnebula’ to play lower stakes games and was promptly suspended from Full Tilt Poker for six months.
More recently, he was part of a crew of players, which also included Cole South and Brian Hastings, who shared Isildur1 hand histories in order to construct his situational ranges. Hastings went on to beat Isildur out of $4.2 million, but all three players were subsequently disciplined when it came out that they had shared information.
In 2010, Townsend, who had served as lead instructor and part owner of CardRunners.com for the past three years, stepped down from his positions. His blog on CardRunners states: “As of June 1st I will no longer be a lead instructor at CardRunners. I will still be around in the capacity that I was before I joined CardRunners as a lead instructor. You can find me in the forums participating in discussion as well as watching the videos.”
He went on, saying: “There is a lot that goes into being involved in the running of a small business while also playing poker full time and having a life outside of poker. It can be difficult to give enough time to everything. CardRunners is still a great business but it is one that is much more time consuming than I would have imagined.”
One thing is for certain, the more poker Brian Townsend plays the worse it is for his opponents.
