High Stakes Poker to no longer feature Full Tilt pros?

December 13th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in BluffEurope.com
Rumours have been reaching us and we do not like them. According to unverified sources (wow, that sounded really professional of us) the new season of High Stakes Poker will not feature Full Tilt Poker pros. That’s right – no Ivey, no Dwan, no Antonius.

The pair took their battle to the $500/$1,000 Heads-Up HA (Hold’em/Omaha) tables and played 428 hands against each other.

It was clearly Palmer’s day as the Maryland-resident scooped two pots that were worth over $200k each.

Although Antonius attempted to battle back, he still lost $366k to URnotINdanger2. The Team Full Tilt Pro made some of it back in the $200/$400 Six-Max games and ended his day down $334k.

In other high stakes online poker news the durrrr Challenge was inactive over the weekend.

There has been no action in the challenge since jungleman12 got frustrated with durrrr’s frequent breaks and suddenly ended their last session.

Isildur1 was busy over the weekend recording 3,087 hands on PokerStars. There were no giants swings this time around and the Team PokerStars Pro, who is rumored to be Viktor Blom, lost $65k.

In general it was a slow weekend on Full Tilt but Isildur1’s recent efforts on PokerStars seem to have stimulated the high stakes games on the site.

Online players <xllllll><, LuckyGump, gordo16 and nutsinho all won over $50,000 on PokerStars last night.

Meanwhile on Full Tilt theASHMAN103 was the second biggest loser of the night, dropping $77k in a $200/$400 Six-Max PLO game.

On PokerStars Dragonxz (-$71k), carreira (-$65k) and nate99 (-$63k) were amongst the biggest losers.

No Dwan, Ivey or Antonius on High Stakes Poker Season 7?

December 13th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in HighStakesNews.com

High Stakes Poker didn’t get too many praises in last season when A.J. Benza was replaced by Kara Scott. The upcoming season doesn’t look that promising either.

Full Tilt Poker might forbid their players to participate on the show. The reason for the ban is that the show is sponsored by PokerStars, which is the biggest rival to FTP.

Barry Greenstein writes about it on 2+2 forums:

“I talked to Howard Lederer and Mori.

However, Full Tilt has two major concerns. First is they don’t like their players playing when PokerStars is the sponsor of the show. (I assume Full Tilt can buy ad time but I didn’t check this out with GSN or PokerStars.) Secondly, they were unhappy that PokerStars bought the HSP archives.

In the early seasons of HSP, the players didn’t wear logos, so FTP is concerned that viewers will be able to go to pokerstars.tv and see the FTP players without logos and be confused by their affiliation,” Greenstein writes.

Greenstein doesn’t like the current policy, because everyone would like to see Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey and Tom “durrrr” Dwan on the show.

“Most of us would like to see the three top FTP cash game players on the show along with some of the other characters we have had in previous seasons. If they don’t play, they’ll be replaced by some new young stars of the game, some affiliated and some not,” Greenstein concludes his post.

Only time will tell what happens. Let’s hope that the policy will change, so HSP would get a season waht the fans deserve.

No Dwan, Ivey or Antonius on High Stakes Poker Season 7?

Isildur1 Drops $300k to Galfond

December 10th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in PokerListings.com

Isildur1, who some claim is Swede Viktor Blom, lost the majority of his stack playing $100/$200 PLO against savvy vet Phil “MrSweets28” Galfond.

Isildur1 is widely considered to be a better No-Limit Hold’em player so his losses in PLO were not a complete surprise.

Swings of this nature are no stranger to Isildur1. Last year Isildur1 went on the mother of all heaters spinning his Full Tilt account up to over $4 million before losing it all and more.

Over on Full Tilt Poker Patrik Antonious was the ultimate winner over a rather slow day. He picked up $147k in the $200/$400 Six-Max PLO games.

Some of the other big winners included new account KobeYard85 with $140k, Limit specialist O Fortuna PLS with $115k, harrington25 with $113k and Gus Hansen with $104k.

Isildur1 was the biggest loser on any site but upstart bemyguestbud saw his hot streak on Full Tilt come to an end losing $274k.

Other notable losers included Phil Ivey, who’s been on a decidedly un-Phil Ivey like downswing lately. Ivey lost a total of $117k over 169 hands.

Also in the losing column were DrugsOrMe who dropped $88k and Andrew Feldman who lost $87k.

durrrr Challenge 2: jungleman12 adds $110k

December 7th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in PokerListings.com

This time around Cates was able to rake $110k from the Team Full Tilt pro in 346 hands of $200/$400 No-Limit Hold’em.

Dwan had been slowly clawing his way out of the hole with several small victories but last night’s session essentially erased all his work.

Cates had the fortune of pulling in two pots worth over $50k each, which helped tip the scales in his favor.

The entire session took less than an hour and Dwan implied that he had been playing for over 15 hours when he finally called it a night.

In other high stakes online news last night, Gus Hansen managed to put in an impressive performance winning $172k in the $300/$600 Six-Max PLO games. Despite some positive steps over the last few weeks, Hansen is still down $1.4 million on the year.

FinnishNightmre (+$115k), luckexpress10 (+$71k), ronnyr37617 (+$67k) were also amongst the biggest winners last night.

Meanwhile gamblegambel (-$229k), DrugsOrMe (-$137k), OMGClayAiken (-$75k), Sauce1234 (-$71k) and David Benefield (-$54k) were all in the losing column.

Check below for some of the best hands between durrrr and jungleman12 last night or check our online poker stats section for more information.

High-Stakes Phenom Isildur1 Signs With PokerStars

December 7th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in PokerListings.com

The online high-stakes star, who took the poker world by storm last fall playing seven of the ten largest pots in online poker history with the likes of Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius, including the first two worth over one million dollars, is now a Team PokerStars Pro.

While widely rumored to be Viktor Blom, he has still yet to publicly reveal his identity. PokerStars now says he will do so in the very near future.

“I chose to join PokerStars because it's the biggest site and it will be an exciting challenge," Isildur1 said. "It means a great deal to be playing in a team alongside players such as Daniel Negreanu, Dario Minieri and Johnny Lodden.

“My goals now are to improve my live game for some upcoming events, continue to focus on Heads-Up No-Limit Hold’em, but also try to develop my Pot-Limit Omaha game.”

In an attempt to prove he is the top heads-up cash game player on the planet, Isildur1 will be playing a series of high stakes heads-up matches on PokerStars.

The SuperStar Showdown format consists of a single session of 2,500 hands at no lower than $50/$100.

The first match will begin at 6 p.m. ET Dec. 19 with the opponent to be named in the coming days.

"It’s not every day that a player like Isildur1 comes along," said fellow Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu. "If you look up the definition of the term ‘phenom’ you'll see a picture of his face.

"When he is playing, the poker world takes notice. Hate to overuse the poker term ‘sick’ but Isildur’s No-Limit Hold'em game is just that – sick!

"Few people step up to the plate against him, but the ones who have, universally have respect for his raw talent.”

Gus Hansen wins over $200,000 at CAP PLO during the weekend

December 6th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in BluffEurope.com
Since cadillac1944 dropped over three-quarters of a million the action at the high stakes uncapped PLO tables has calmed down but Gus Hansen took to the lower (well, relatively lower) stakes of $200/$400 CAP. He played over a thousand hands during the weekend and wound up a $207,000 winner.

IHateJuice Beats Ivey, Antonius for $255k

December 2nd, 2010 No Comments   Posted in PokerListings.com

The still unidentified online player took on Full Tilt icons Phil Ivey and Patrik Antonius at heads-up $2,000/$4,000 Limit Hold’em last night and came out on top in both matches.

IHateJuice played 381 hands against Antonius and raked $142k from the Finn and then added 117 hands against Ivey where he won $111k.

After beating Ivey IHateJuice really got the railbirds buzzing with this statement in the chatbox:

“IHateJuice: btw... can u do me a favor and ask FTP for 3k6k tables?” “Phil Ivey: u wanna break me faster?”

IHateJuice went on to say that he thought Antonius wanted to play higher, upon which Ivey mentioned he’d like to see them play $5k/$10k. The pair eventually logged off without settling anything but there's a chance there will be some higher states Limit tables on Full Tilt in the next few days.

Other big winners from last night included Arbianight who took down $183k, DrugsOrMe who picked up $139k and recent upstart ronnyr37617 who won $75k.

Meanwhile Antonius was technically the biggest loser going $229k into the red.

cadillac1944, who had that massive win against Tom Dwan two nights ago, donated $203k back to the online tables.

Dan “jungleman12” Cates, who seems to have cooled off a bit recently, also lost $118k.

Finally Gus Hansen couldn’t get anything going last night and lost a relatively minor – by his standards – $70k.

“Cadillac1944? swipes over his opponents - “DrugsOrMe” loses $700K in an hour

December 1st, 2010 No Comments   Posted in HighStakesNews.com

There has been some fast action at the Full Tilt Poker high stakes tables lately. We can thank “cadillac1944″ for the action as he has been challenging all the top names on FTP. Earlier today the action was looking so wild that it reminded us from the legendary “Isildur1″.

“Cadillac1944″ has played three sessions today and latest was against the Austrian player “DrugsOrMe”. They playd $500/$1000 Pot Limit Omaha for an hour and “cadillac1944″ won almost all the big pots. Eventually he had won over $700,000 from the Austrian.

The biggest pot today ($384K), raising contest on the river and “cadillac1944″ grabs the pot with his full house:

After “cadillac1944″ had won the pot, he quickly sat out from the table… so the possible re-match might not happen today.

Even though “DrugsOrMe” lost big time, he didn’t seem to get on tilt, as you can read below:

Urindanger: hey.
Urindanger: want to play?
DrugsOrMe: hey.
DrugsOrMe: no thx.
Urindanger: thought it might be worth a shot :)
DrugsOrMe: haha
Urindanger: even lower?
DrugsOrMe: im not tilted at all actually
DrugsOrMe: dont think there is much value tbh :p
Urindanger: oh wouldn’t expect you to be
Urindanger: haha
DrugsOrMe: especially when i just lost a bunch to mr. cadi
Urindanger: lol gl!
DrugsOrMe: you too

“Cadillac1944″ has now won 1,6 million dollars in just two days and is getting quite break-even for the year. “DrugsOrMe” was already down about 1,6 million dollars this year and now he’s down about $2,3 millon - which is, quite a lot really.

Dwan Run Over by cadillac1944

December 1st, 2010 No Comments   Posted in PokerListings.com

The pair played over 1,000 hands of $500/$1,000 PLO with six pots worth more than $300k.

It’s not clear what inspired the action but it’s been quite awhile since there has been that much uninterrupted uncapped $500/$1,000 PLO.

The biggest pot of the day, a $514k monster, was won by cadillac1944 when he managed to hit an ace-high flush against Dwan on a draw-heavy board.

After losing $740k to cadillac1944, Dwan went on to play $100/$200 PLO against Bttech86, where he would lose $218k more.

Add in a few other minor losses and Dwan dropped a total of $1.04 million yesterday.

The huge loss shook up the leaderboard for the top five biggest winners this year. Dan “jungleman12” Cates still leads with $5.1 million, Andreas “skjervoy” Tobergsen is now second with $3.2 million, Phil Ivey is third with $2.97 million and Dwan is all the way down to fourth with $2.96 million.

Meanwhile caddilac1944 had the fortune to jump all the way from -$1.5 million to just -$650k this year.

In other high stakes online news Scott “URnotINdanger2” Palmer continued his strong play with a $330k win, skjervoy won $306k and Bttech86, thanks to Dwan, won $268k.

Arbianight, who’s been trending down lately, lost a total of $525k while David Benefield, who has also been ice cold lately, dropped $220k.

Finally Gus Hansen, who had a fantastic November, didn’t get his December off to a good start with a $195k loss.

George “Jorj95? Lind Video Interview

November 30th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in pokerNewsDaily.com

George Lind, better known as Jorj95 online, is one of the sickest long-term grinders in online poker history. His exploits have earned him the top honor of the PokerStars VIP system in SuperNova Elite status every single year it has been available. We caught up with Jorj95 at the NAPT Los Angeles stop at the Bicycle Casino.

Known more for his online exploits, he was asked about transitioning into the world of high stakes tournaments. Lind responded, “Well, I was a live player first and I started in 1999 playing live. It wasn’t until 2005 that I started playing on the internet. So, I did play live for a few years… It’s a lot slower obviously, playing live, but it’s a lot more interesting in a way too because there’s a lot more to think about.”

Lind was the very first member of the 2010 class of SuperNova Elite players, as covered in this article – Jorj95 Becomes First PokerStars SuperNova Elite. To earn this level, Lind accumulated one million VIP Player Points (VPPs) on March 30th of this year. Lind estimated that he played approximately 80,000 Sit & Go tournaments during that time span, which averages out to about 50 hours per week playing hyper-turbo Sit & Gos. On October 21st he made it to 2 million VIP points, meaning he’s still “just” a SuperNova Elite but continues to rack in the reward bonuses that go with hitting additional milestones. Upon hitting SuperNova Elite, it’s estimated that the rewards equal out to about $115,000.

With the status level comes automatic buy-ins to major tournaments (or a cashout prize payout), which Jorj95 uses to travel and play in some of the most exotic destinations, as well as participate in some of the biggest online tournaments. He finished in 8th place in the prestigious $10,300 HORSE High Roller event during he 2008 PokerStars WCOOP which grossed him $30,900. In 2010 he finished second in the SCOOP Stud event for a $44,400 payday. At the WSOP he finished in tenth place at the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo Championship for $43,833. He has played in such destinations as the European Poker Tour (EPT), Asian Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) and the North American Poker Tour (NAPT).

It’s estimated that George Lind has over $750,000 in lifetime earnings just by playing online Sit & Gos at PokerStars. He is a member of their Team Online Pro stable.

November Recap: The Fall of Ziigmund

November 30th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in PokerListings.com

Sahamies, who has been ice cold over the last couple months on Full Tilt, even admitted on his blog he’s likely in the biggest downswing of his career.

It’s been hard times for the aggressive Finn who hasn’t recorded a losing year online since 2007. His losses in 2010 now total $1.9 million.

Sahamies essentially stuck to Pot-Limit Omaha in November but that didn’t seem to help as everyone from Gus Hansen to Dan “jungleman12” Cates took a piece of Ziigmund.

During the middle of the month Sahamies even went over a week without recording a single winning day.

As Sahamies trended down, fellow Finn Patrik Antonius skyrocketed to the top. The Team Full Tilt pro dominated November and won a total of $1.2 million over 7,579 hands.

It helped that Antonius has been playing a series of $2,000/$4,000 Limit Hold’em games against IHateJuice and utterly destroying him.

Antonius now sits on $1.7 million on the year and looks to finish 2010 with yet another winning year.

Since Antonius started playing under his current handle on Full Tilt Poker he has never recorded a losing year.

Right behind Antonius was Di “Urindanger” Dang, who despite some cold runs during the month, managed to win some huge sessions near the end and finish up $894k. He’s now on $1.3 million for the year.

Close behind Dang, perhaps fittingly, was Scott “URnotINdanger2” Palmer. Palmer, whose Full Tilt alias is a play on Dang’s online name, took down a $628k this month.

Some of the other big winners this month included rumprammer (+$512k), DrugsOrMe (+$504k), skjervoy ($434k) and Dan “jungleman12” Cates ($405k).

Even Gus Hansen finished up $369k this month, which was a vast improvement to previous months where he had lost over a million. Hansen will still have clear about $1.2 million if he wants to get even this year.

Ziigmund was easily the biggest loser in November but cadillac1944 (-$824k) and Erik “DIN_FRU” Sagstrom (-$585k) also had forgettable months. Even David Benefield, who has been rock solid this year, lost $508k in the month of November.

Patrik Antonius is popular on Full Tilt Poker high stakes tables

November 29th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in HighStakesNews.com

Patrik Antonius doesn’t need to practice any kind of table selection as he has become very popular on the Full Tilt’s high stakes tables. Last night both “IHateJuice” and Daniel “jungleman12″ Cates were after Antonius’ “head”.

The German player “IHateJuice” wanted to continue their $2K/$4K Limit Hold’Em match, but the Finn wasn’t that excited about it. In fact Patrik tried to suggest that they could mix the games a bit by playing Limit Hold’Em and 2-7 Triple Draw.

This wasn’t good enough for “IHateJuice” and he seemed to be a bit upset as Patrik has won about a million from the German from Limit Hold’Em:

IHateJuice: patrik, time to play!
Patrik Antonius: juice
Patrik Antonius: two tables
Patrik Antonius: one 2-7 and one limit holdem?

harrington25: juice
harrington25: is pat up a lot on you?
harrington25: you should never call out pat
harrington25: pat plays all games well
jungleman12: patrik are you going to play ihatejuice?
Patrik Antonius: wow this is getting sick
Patrik Antonius: i feel the most confortable here…

IHateJuice: ur up a million and ask for 2-7
IHateJuice: anyway, i was just letting u know ill be around one more hour or so
harrington25: phil plo?
Patrik Antonius: ok juice but looks like i will play jungleman12 first
Patrik Antonius: gotta work on my nl

IHateJuice: ill go to bed then i guess
IHateJuice: got university early tomorrow
Patrik Antonius: no game juice now sry to turn you down
IHateJuice: kk
IHateJuice: do u have msn or anything
IHateJuice: its silly for me to stay up that late just for the chance that we play
IHateJuice: id like to know beforehand
IHateJuice: if ur around or so
Patrik Antonius: i will find you if you are waiting on the tables

But in the end Antonius didn’t play against either of them, if we believe the HighstakesDB’s live tracking. There was still some action last night as “rumprammer” won about $215K and David Benefield ended up losing again, a bit over $230K.

David Benefield takes a huge hit - Loses over $600K

November 28th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in HighStakesNews.com

David “Raptor” Benefield must have had the worst day of his life. He lost over $600K on the Full Tilt Poker high stakes tables last night.

Most of Benefield’s money was grabbed by Patrik Antonius at a $500/$1000 PLO deep heads-up table. That made Antonius the biggest winner of the day, with almost $386K profit.

Antonius wins with his full house, about $317K pot

Antonius won quite nicely from $1500/$3000 2-7 Triple Draw as well. There was some wild action at the Draw tables and David Oppenheim was seen toleave a table with a bit over $400,000 stack.

Antonius is now almost 1,8 million dollars up this year and even though Benefield lost yesterday he is still over $1,5 million up for the year.

It’s always interesting to see how the results change in the last months of the year, and what makes it even more interesting, HighstakesDB will soon add the big Draw games to their result tracking service.

Antonius Crushes IHateJuice Again

November 25th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in PokerListings.com

For the second time this week Patrik Antonius took rival IHateJuice to school and destroyed him for $113k.

The game was once again $2,000/$4,000 Limit Hold’em and pair put in 1,719 hands over the span of a few hours.

It wasn’t as one-sided as the match earlier this week but Antonius winning $181k on one table was enough to guarantee a successful session for the Finn.

It remains to be seen why IHateJuice continues to play Antonius. IHateJuice, who is rumored to be a German Limit specialist, has lost nearly $1 million to the Team Full Tilt Pro.

Perhaps the only good news for IHateJuice was that Antonius wasn’t the biggest winner of the evening. That honor went to upstart bemyguestbud who dominated the high stakes PLO games for $306k.

Zugwat (+$105k), jungleman12 (+$99k) and theASHMAN103 (+$85k) all had successful nights as well.

Marcelo “luckexpress10” Marigliano was the biggest loser last night, mostly thanks to a heads-up $200/$400 session against bemyguestbud, and dropped a total of $304k.

Arbianight was right behind Marigliano with $196k in losses while IReadYRSoul apparently forgot how to read last night and lost $171k.

Finally IHateJuice rounded out the top four biggest losers of the night with his $113k loss to Patrik Antonius.

IhateJuice evidently also hates money – time and time again he has returned to play Patrik Antonius at $2,000/$4,000 Limit Hold ‘em and lost six-figures against the Finn, proving that IhateGameSelection might be a more apt name for the unknown high stakes player.

Poker After Dark Season 7 Premieres January 3rd

November 24th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in pokerNewsDaily.com

Poker PROductions announced this week that its popular poker television program “Poker After Dark” has concluded the taping of its seventh season.  Filmed at the Aria Resort and Casino at CityCenter in Las Vegas, the season premiere will air the week of January 3rd on NBC.

Season 7 will tie for the second longest season in the show’s history, spanning 13 weeks.  The fifth season, filmed in 2009, was the longest at 16 weeks, or 96 episodes.  The upcoming season will build on the popularity of cash games, all but phasing out the original six-handed sit and go competitions upon which “Poker After Dark” was built.

That said, the first week of the new season will feature a $100,000 buy-in sit and go dubbed “Big Heat.”  Competing for the winner-take-all prize pool will be popular high-stakes action seekers Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond, John Juanda, Erick Lindgren, Phil Ivey, and Huck Seed.

The other two sit and gos will feature the traditional $20,000 buy-in and a richer $50,000 buy-in.  The $20,000 version will be called “Wish List,” with amateur Mike Dappen taking on Mike Matusow, Phil Hellmuth, Jennifer Harman, Erica Schoenberg, and Chris Ferguson.  Dappen won the opportunity to play for the $300,000 first prize by winning the Howard and Suzie Lederer Charity Poker Tournament, which raised money for the Boys and Girls Clubs.

The $50,000 tournament, named “Idol,” will see Doyle Brunson go up against five young pros: Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin, Annette “Annette_15” Obrestad, Andrew “LuckyChewy” Lichtenberger, Melanie “Callisto 5″ Weisner, and Dwan.

The rest of the competitions will be cash games, each of which will span two weeks.  Two will have a minimum buy-in of $100,000.  The first of these will include Brandon Adams, Matusow, Ferguson, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, Jean-Robert Bellande, Peter Jetten, and Hellmuth.  Hellmuth will return for the second $100,000 cash game, along with Antonio Esfandiari, Obrestad, Andy Bloch, Seed, and Justin “Boosted J” Smith.

A $150,000 buy-in cash game will see Eli Elezra, David “Viffer” Peat, Phil Laak, Greg “FBT” Mueller, Olivier Busquet, and Lederer all try to take each other’s money, while Ivey, Dwan, Patrik Antonius, Peat, Elezra, and David Oppenheim will sit down for another cash game with at least $200,000 at stake per person.

While all of the above cash games will be No Limit Hold’em, there will be one $100,000 cash game that will feature Pot Limit Omaha as the game of choice.  Sitting down at this table will be Ivey, Galfond, Adams, Antonius, Dwan, Brian Hastings, and Jared “harrington25″ Bleznick.

With 10 of the 13 weeks consisting of cash games, Season 7 will be far and away the most cash game heavy of all of the “Poker After Dark” cycles.  It was not until Season 4 in 2008 that cash games were part of the lineup.  The show was exclusively six-handed sit and gos for its first three seasons, serving as a complement to GSN’s “High Stakes Poker,” another Poker PROductions program that consisted of only cash games.

In Season 4, which was only seven weeks long, the first and seventh weeks were cash games, while the third was a special four-player “Heads-Up Challenge.”  Of the 16 weeks of Season 5, seven were cash games.  Six more weeks were cash games in the 13-week Season 6.

Poker PROductions also revealed this week that it has extended its deal with NBC Universal to produce “Poker After Dark” through 2014.  Aria will continue to serve as the host casino for the show’s filming through at least 2013.

November 24th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in PokerListings.com

Hansen played just 311 hands of Pot-Limit Omaha last night but managed to record some big wins, particularly against DrugsOrMe and Di “Urindanger” Dang.

The Great Dane beat DrugsOrMe out of $106k playing heads-up $500/$1,000 Cap PLO and then added another $111k against Urindanger in the same game.

Hansen also found time to make some scores in a $200/$400 PLO Six-Max game that included skjervoy and DrugsOrMe.

In total Hansen won $262k, which leaves his total losses this year at $892k. It’s the first time in over three months he’s been under the $1 million mark.

Hansen, who’s been red hot the last few weeks, easily won the most cash last night but psychobenny (+$144k), URnotINdanger2 (+$144k) and IHateJuice (+$72k) also had big nights.

Meanwhile cadillac1944 lost more than anyone else, donating a total $198k to the high stakes tables on Full Tilt.

Arbianight also continued his recent downswing with $159k in losses while Urindanger, in part thanks to Hansen, lost $119k.

Even Phil Ivey, who’s started to pop up on Full Tilt since returning from Macau, lost $90k in a scant 105 hands on the site.

BLOG – the coolest hands in TV poker history

Jason Mercier has just left the table $200,000 lighter after attempting to run a bluff that would have worked on any player except Phil Ivey. Unfortunately he was playing Phil Ivey at the time, who promptly picked him off with just a pair of nines. This means the table is six-handed at the conclusion of the second session of High Stakes Poker season six.

Skjervøy Explodes for $367k

November 18th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in PokerListings.com

The CardRunners instructor recorded 1,417 hands in varying stakes of Pot-Limit Omaha and essentially dominated everyone that was willing to take him on including Arbianight, Brian Hastings and DrugsOrMe.

Skjervøy was particularly effective against Arbianight and won more than $100k in a heads-up battle.

In total Torbergsen won $367k yesterday, which made him easily the biggest winner of the day.

Torbergsen has quietly put together one of the best overall records in 2010. The Norwegian has earned nearly $3 million this year and CardRunners’ decision to sign him as an instructor looks better and better every day.

Some of the other big winners on the evening included luckexpress10 who won $146k, Gus Hansen who took down $140k and Urindanger with $114k.

Hansen continued his relentless drive to get even in 2010 and is now down only $1.7 million after being down $3.6 million in mid-October.

Yesterday wasn’t as kind to davin77 who dropped $212k, Brian Hastings who lost $165k and URnotINdanger2 who went $145k into the red.

Meanwhile the incredible live high stakes action with Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey and Chau Giang, which you can learn more about in this TwoPlusTwo thread, continues to rage in Macau.

The latest rumor is that a wealthy businessman has agreed to play Tom Dwan at $HK10k/$HK20k heads-up No-Limit provided Dwan show his cards after every hand. Apparently Dwan is stuck $HK10 million.

Scott “URnotINdanger2? Palmer wins over $500k - Ziigmund is still losing

November 17th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in HighStakesNews.com

The high stakes games on Full Tilt have been a bit quiet lately, mostly because some of the FTP regulars are playing really epic cash games in Macau. Luckily there was some action earlier today as Scott “URnotINdanger2″ Palmer made nice $500k profits at the Cap PLO tables.

Palmer is now one of the biggest winners in November with Gus Hansen (+$675K) and Daniel “jungleman12″ Cates (+$455K) - when including today’s session, Palmer has won over 640,000 dollars this month.

November’s biggest losers so far are Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies (-$966K) and “cadillac1944″ (-$512K). Sahamies is still in a horrible downswing.

Chau “La Key U” Giang wins a 1,9 million euros pot in Macau!

November 16th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in HighStakesNews.com

It’s really not a surprise that the biggest cash games in the world are played in Macau. Now the Poker King Club’s Marketing Manager Stella Yeh is giving us an update through 2+2 forums.

Chau Giang
“Would just like to say on behalf of Poker King Club thank you to everyone for their interest in our High Stakes Macau game. As i’ve read some of the previous threads, our friends Tom & Matt have done an excellent job giving updates, as well as bringing Phil and Durrrr over to Starworld to play this action packed game.”

“As of right now…Durrrr & Phil are taking a break, catching up on some sleep….and there are two local guys sitting right in front of me playing $50k-$100k HKD (€4750/€9500) heads up. They’ve been playing since 9am….it’s about 4pm now….and they’re still going strong. One guy has a massive chip lead on the other ….but the other guy’s determined to continue playing it seems.”

This game has been going on in Macau at Level 3 Starworld…Poker King Club for over a year already. And consists of mostly Macau/China businessmen who have converted their passion from Baccarrat to Poker.

Everyday new challenges come out, and as Tom Hall said earlier, some guy from Beijing has challenged to play Durrrr heads up, if he flies in tonight, i’ll keep everyone posted on what happens,” Stella Yeh writes.

Chau “La Key U” Giang won a €1,9 million pot when the “Chinese fellow” went all-in on turn with a full house, but Giang had a better full house with his set of aces. Board was J-J-T-A-3 and the “Chinese fellow” had A-J, and Giang had Aces. Talk about a bad beat here.

Will Dwan, Phil Ivey and the other players ever want to leave Macau?
